"Morning Flight"

I would like to take the opportunity provided by this page to share a little bit of myself with each and everyone of you who might be interested.

I lost my first wife, Sharon, after 33 years of marrige in May of 1999. Read a poem about her by a co-worker read at her memorial serice.

I have two daughters, Michele and Melanie (both happily married), and two granddaugters, Brittany and Lindsay (both by Michele). All live nearby.

I remarried in June of 2004 to a lovely southern lady, Barbara, who has opened a wonderful new chapter in my life. She retired from the Muscogee County School System in May just before the wedding. We sold two homes, hers in Columbus GA, and mine in Lawrenceville, to buy one together near Lake Lanier.

There are eight family cats, Tasha, Sienna, Chaz, Mosby,Bentley, Bunnie, Smudge and Rainman, who presently share our home.

My current interests include computers,a little reading, and a lot of movies. My DVD movie collection currently numbers over 900 titles and is still growing. I have done bird carving in the past and hope to return to it again sometime soon. Please visit my internet site for Black Cat Carvings.

Where I spend far too much time.

I Was born in Peoria, Illinois and grew up in Illinois and Indiana. I received a BS in Wildlife Management from Purdue University in January of 1967 and an MS in Wildlife Ecology from Ohio State University in March of 1969.

After college, I worked with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources first as a District Biologist and then as the Quail Research Biologist (6/69 thru 7/74). The rest of my career (1974 thru 2003) was with the Fish and Wildlife Service. I worked in Tennessee, Kentucky, Washington DC, and lastly here in Georgia for the FWS.

I worked at a number of jobs with the Service, but the last 17 years were in Atlanta where I supervised a small staff of biologists/planners and was responsible for all land planning for the National Wildlife Refuges in the southeast. The southeast refuges numbered about 130 with over 3.5 million acres under management.

I retired in January of 2003 after 28 years with the Service. It had gotten where work wasn't the fun it had once been, and it was time to hang the career up and try something else. So far, I have done more housework than fishing, more yard work than computing, and so on - but Barbara and I are planning on catching up with the fun.
